The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) (Requires Adobe Acrobat - get it free) gives all consumers certain rights in regards to their credit information. In part, it guarantees the consumer access to his/her credit report, gives him/her rights to dispute inaccurate information and requires the credit reporting agency to correct the inaccurate information within a limited timeframe. Some states have laws that provide further rights to consumers within their state.
